Stories of Fire: Resources for Media Covering Wildfire Events and Topics

This was developed through a partnership between Oregon State University’s Extension Fire Program and the School of Journalism and Communications at the University of Oregon. Our broad goal is to increase mutual learning between Oregon journalists and fire scientists to improve science-based coverage of wildfire events and issues. We conducted interviews with a selected number of journalists/newsrooms, fire scientists, and public information officers across the state to learn about their needs and interests in reporting on wildfire, and based the content of this publication on what we heard.
