A Rare Research Opportunity at UC Hopland Research and Extension Center: Event

  • uc hopland research & Extension Center 4070 unversity rd hopland, ca 95449 United States (map)

On July 27th the River Fire burned approximately 2/3rd of the Hopland Research and Extension Center's 5,358 acres.

For more information on this fire and research opportunities visit HREC’s postfire site >

While this was a dramatic event that did damage parts of the Center, none of the main buildings, livestock nor staff were hurt by the fire. This event has created a unique opportunity for research. With Hopland REC's extensive pre-fire historical data, plus immediate post-fire, pre-rain observations that we intend to collect, we have the foundation to support relevant and timely research on the effects of fire and mechanisms of recovery.

We invite you to learn more about research opportunities this fall, during a webinar on September 7 and/or site tour on October 19. Click here to register for either event.
We will offer researchers special rates and access to the site over this brief period and encourage you to join these events or contact me directly to discuss further. Read on to learn more about our site and how you can be involved in post fire research.
