Basic Fire Lighter Training

Basic Fire Lighter Training

Firelighter: A new term used to describe a person that conducts prescribed burns.

V.

Firefighter: A person whose job is to extinguish fires.

‘Firelighter trainings’ are a series of unaccredited courses (they do not result in NWCG certificates) intended to supply PBA members with the practical knowledge and skills to excel and advance in the roles you may fill during prescribed burns. Even if you’ve taken an ‘equivalent’ NWCG class, these firelighter workshops still have value, as they focus primarily on local and practical knowledge and skills.

Description: Learn about fire behavior in our local vegetation types, fire line safety, and how to function as an effective burn crew member. This class is intended for PBA members with limited fire experience (0-3 Rx burns).

Prerequisites: None! Whether you have a FFT2 qualification or no fire experience at all, this training is for you!

Location: TBD (Shooting for Weott or Eureka)

Cost: Free!
