NatureBridge and the US Forest Service’s Rocky Mountain Research Station, Missoula Fire Sciences Lab will offer a two-day workshop on the science of wildland fire.
This training is designed for fire prevention specialists, fire information officers, interpretive rangers, environmental educators, and classroom teachers.
The training will be based on the FireWorks program; a curriculum and traveling trunk, that offers approximately 40 hands-on activities about fire behavior, ecology, and management. The workshop will cover more than 30 of the activities and also teaches participants how to train others to use the program. This workshop will cover lessons applicable to the Sierra Nevada ecosystem.
- Covers physical science of combustion, fire history, succession, and fire effects on plants and animals
- New curriculum & streamlined materials–just released specific for the Sierra Nevada
- Lessons for elementary, middle, and high school levels

When: Monday and Tuesday, August 15 & 16, 2016, 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Where: NatureBridge Crane Flat Campus, Yosemite National Park
Cost: $50.00 (+ $3.49 Eventbrite ticket fee) per participant, covers lodging and meals (Monday lunch and dinner, Tuesdaybreakfast, and lunch).
Class size is limited to 20 so please be sure to register early to ensure a spot.
